Last year was the year of Cindy Lou Who. At 18 months, she was still not really aware of this whole Halloween/Trick-or-Treating thing, so she hung out with us outside while we passed out candy, but we didn't take her door-to-door.
But this year? This year she was all about the costume and the trick-or-treating, and the candy. Keeping her excitement contained Monday was no small feat. Our neighborhood kids don't start going around until 6:30, so it was a looonnnngggg wait, but when the time came, we got her dressed up in her leggings, poodle skirt, jean jacket (and multiple layers underneath because it was cold). One of her best buddies came over, and they set out on an hour long tour of our neighborhood while I planted myself on the front porch as the official candy passer-outer.
Kevin reports that she was shy at first, but about halfway through, she began enthusiastically announcing "trick-or-treat!", just as we'd practiced... and then tried to give the person at the door candy from her bucket :)
Nevertheless, she came home all smiles and with plenty of sugar filled goodness to share:
You just can't argue with that face.
