Done (A Photo Tour)

It's about time to wrap these "getting ready for baby" projects up.  You know, since he's due to arrive in 10 days and all.  In some ways the projects, and last minute cleaning, and to-do lists are good, because they give me something to focus on and something to do every day while we wait, but at the same time, I want everything finished and settled so that I know that I can bring this new kiddo home to a space that is as "perfect" as I can make it.

So finally, 2 nights ago, we finished the nursery.

This bedding was my reintroduction to a sewing machine after 15 years.  In total, I did the bedskirt, bumpers, a blanket, and window treatments.  There was definitely a learning curve and I had to finish the last little bit on my mom's machine because mine is on the fritz, but the bedding is much closer to what we had pictured than anything we could find commercially and there was literal blood, sweat, and tears put into it.

The space we have for this nursery is not huge.  There's enough room for a crib, dresser and bookshelf, but that's it.  Here's the left half of the room from the door.  I made the mobile, also, and while it didn't turn out quite what I had envisioned, it's a nice little complement to the room.  The photograph next to the window (and the one seen in the next picture) are train stations in Georgia, a tribute to Baby Boy's paternal roots.

And here's the right side of the room. The changing table is the only new piece of furniture we bought.

This is Bunny, Mia's creation from Build-A-Bear workshop.  He's waiting to meet his new friend, though Mia visits him daily to give him a little love and attention.  He also has shoes, but I'm told that he can't wear them because "we're not allowed to wear shoes in the house", so his shoes are stored with Baby Boy's in the dresser. 2 year-old logic is hard to argue with.
