The Crankies

Somebody apparently has the crankies.  And it's not (just) me!

I went in for my regular weekly doctor's appointment today and had a few surprises.

First, my blood pressure was 131/80.  Oops.  A little high.  Take it again.  Still about the same.  No other signs of anything being wrong.  No severe swelling, no abnormal proteins, no vision problems.

Then, Baby Boy's heartrate was in the upper 170s.  Oops.  Also a little high/fast.

So, off to the monitors we go to find out if I'm going to be allowed to go home, or if I'll be headed to the hospital.

After 30 minutes hooked up to the monitors to watch baby's heartrate, and another taking of my own blood pressure, the numbers were still not great, but were low enough that I could go home.

Best guess?  Baby Boy likes to move.  And his movement is being restricted.  Which makes him cranky and he tries to kick his way out, causing spikes in his heartrate.  He's not in any real distress.  Just getting himself worked up.  Which is likely taking its toll on my body, explaining the high blood pressure.

While the whole thing turned out just fine, it did drive home the realization that we're in the last inning, and this kiddo could come anytime.  So after my appointment, I stopped to pick up a small gift for Mia (that the baby will be "giving" her when she visits in the hospital).

My ideal date is Friday afternoon.  Tomorrow is Kevin's last day of work until next Monday.  Wednesday we're taking time to bake and finish up some last minute errands.  Thursday my immediate family is coming for Thanksgiving/house decorating, and then Friday I have plans to hit a couple of stores, and then brunch with the non-shoppers.  So if this child could decide to make his appearance this weekend, that would be just fabulous.  Lots of help available, nobody having to rush home from work.  All nice and calm and relaxed.

Hear that, Baby Boy?

Otherwise, I have another appointment Tuesday (2 days before my due date) and I'm pretty sure we'll have to have the eviction conversation at that time.  Which I'm trying to avoid.

How much do you think this kiddo loves his mommy and wants to make her happy?
