24 Weeks

How far along: 24 weeks

Baby's size: an ear of corn; 12 inches (head to heel) and 1 lb. 6 oz (as of Tuesday's appt.)

What Munchkin is up to (according to Babycenter):

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. He cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Symptoms: Body aches and increasing weight gain

Total Weight Gain: 19lbs.

Best moment since last update: Another ultrasound on Tuesday that showed a happy, healthy, active boy.

Movement: Yup, and getting stronger every day. If I catch it at the right moment, I can see my stomach and sides jump with his kicks.

Food cravings: Fruit

Gender: BOY!

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, and being able to sleep in the same position for more than an hour at a time before my hips and back begin to stiffen.

What I'm looking forward to: We're slowly cleaning out the office that will be the nursery. I can't wait to get all the extra "stuff" out of there so that we can begin to recreate that space.
