Look Who's TWO!

(Two things to note: Her actual birthday was the 16th, but it's taken me till today to get the post together and posted. What can I say? Life happens. Also, Blogger is fighting me on formatting and after 2 days, I give up, so let's just pretend it's perfect, mmkay? Now, moving on...)

April 2011

Little Mia, you are TWO today!
Here's what's been going on:

  • You weigh 24 lbs. and are almost 34 inches tall. You've had a major growth spurt over the last couple months, and while you're still on the petite side, you're catching up to your peers in height.

  • Still in size 3 diapers. You're right at the threshold, and we could probably move up to the next size, but we're *this close* to starting potty training. March and April have been a bit crazy, but next month is calmer, so we'll give it a shot then. Hopefully, in another month or so, diapers will be a thing of the past.

  • You wear size 5 or 6 shoes, depending on the brand. You love putting shoes on your feet, and are especially proud when you can do it yourself. They're not always on the right feet, but they are on!

  • You wear size 18 and some 24 month clothing. The 24 month fits well in the length, but is still two big around the waist. We'll be at this "between" stage for awhile. Good thing summer is just around the corner! Summer dresses are much easier to fit.

  • You have developed a typical toddler appetite. Some days you will eat anything and everything we put in front of you, and some days it's a battle to get you to eat just a few bites. Some of your favorite foods are bananas, grilled cheese, lasagna/spaghetti, bagels, and cheerios. You're also a fan of coffee, but that's the last thing you need.
  • You're officially talking. Almost all of your words are easily understood by others. One of my favorite recent developments is that you are learning the names of your friends and will now greet them by name (when prompted).
  • In terms of play, you love anything Sesame Street related and call all the characters by name. In fact, your birthday theme is Abby Cadabby. You've started to enjoy alot more independent play, and I enjoy listening/watching you create scenarios with your toys. Daddy is still one of your favorite playmates. We generally have "Daddy playtime" after dinner, which involves alot of running, wrestling, tickling, squealing, and giggling.

  • The "Mommy Phase" seems to be getting better. We are slowly teaching you to do more and more activities independently, as well as ask Daddy for help. Some days are better than others, but we're making progress.

We can't believe we have a 2-year-old! CRAZY! But each day is something new, and we can't wait to see what the next year holds for you. Happy birthday, Mia!

  • We love you!
