Nursery Reveal!

The nursery is done!

Come in for a tour...

This is the sign that I painted for her bedroom door. My sister Danielle had found and bought the decals before Christmas. I bought the paint and canvas at Michaels and voila!

This is the view from the bedroom door. The room is fairly small, once all the furniture is in there. The crib is to the left (not in the shot), directly in front of you is the dresser and changing table and along the back wall is the nursing area and bookshelf. The bookshelf was another craft project. We bought a fairly inexpensive white bookshelf from Staples and then Kevin painted it to match the other colors in the room.

Here's the crib! It fits perfectly along the inside wall. Her name above the bed was an inspired project. I knew I wanted letters spelling out her name there, and when I went to Michaels to buy them, they had those little ladybugs you see on the plaques for .50 each! So I changed my vision just because the ladybugs were so cute, and I think it came out as one of the best creative features in the room.

Here's the nursing corner. The ladybugs on the wall are actually battery operated lights that come on when you press on them. I painted them to match our ladybug theme. The table was a $12 buy from Ikea and came in that bright red color that matched our room. The chair we bought right after Christmas and it's soooo comfortable. You just sink right on in. I wanted something that was super comfy, since I'm guessing I'll spend a lot of time here.
Another shot of the nursing corner and bookshelf. The wicker baskets hold odds and ends items. Baby toys/rattles, socks, and shoes/baby booties. The little figurines are the Beatrix Potter figures from Kevin's childhood. And of course, she has the start of a reading library on the bottom shelf.

This is the changing area. The print above is a Monet from his Mother and Child series that I bought probably 8 years ago, or so, and have never had the right place to put it. We had it framed when we realized how the colors picked up the colors in the nursery. The changing table is something my dad painted for us. After she's born, he'll add her birthdate under her name.

Try to ignore the smoke alarm. These pieces are the Virgin Mary and 2 guardian angels. They hung in my room when I was little, then in my bedroom when I lived by myself, then in the master bedroom after I was married, and now hang above the doorway in Mia's room.

That's it! Now all we need is the baby to put in it. I spent some time today educating myself on how to fold and unfold the stroller, as well as attach the carrier to the car seat base. Easy, once you spend some time with it, but for heaven's sake...who knew you had to possess a college degree to work these things??
