A Whole New Woman

Yesterday at my doctor's appointment, I mentioned that in the last month I had been experiencing heartburn (I know, lovely, right?) that had progressively gotten worse. It didn't matter what I ate, when I ate it, how much I ate, if I had enough water, nothing. Anytime I put food or drink in my mouth, I was left with that horrible tighntess in my chest. I wasn't sleeping at night because it was keeping/waking me up. I tried Tums, but the chalkiness upset my stomach, leaving me with heartburn...and nausea. No good. She wrote me a prescription for the generic drug used in Zantac. Last night, I woke up only for me three bathroom trips, and slept comfortably for the rest of the night. I feel like a whole new woman today. I've stayed away from any OTC or prescription drugs throughout this pregnancy, only taking Tylenol a couple of times for bad headaches early on in the pregnancy. However, I'm so grateful for this relief. It's not completely gone, but it's sooo much better.

Everything else with the appointment went well. Mia is measuring about a week and a half behind her due date. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this means she'll be a small baby, and on time, and not a "normal" size baby that arrives a week and a half past her due date. Note: I'm very aware that first babies take longer, I'm just conveniently ignoring that fact. I'm much happier that way ;)

We also took our hospital tour, and both Kevin and I feel comfortable in making the choice to deliver at the smaller of the two military hospitals in the area. The labor and delivery rooms are good sized, with private bathrooms, large flat screen tvs (Kevin is excited...it's much nicer than what we have at home!), and a CD player. Rooming-in is encouraged, so once she arrives, she'll be with me unless I choose to send her to the nursery for awhile. The Mommy and Baby rooms, where we will spend the rest of our stay, are semi-private, two new moms and two babies per room. No bathrooms in those rooms, I'll have to travel down the hall. Not crazy about this, but I'll survive for two days, and then just be really relieved to come home.

The last of the shopping will be done this weekend. The nursery is finished (stay tuned for the grand reveal soon!). Now we just wait.
