Smile

Our little Jacob is most definitely smiling.  And not the gassy kind that parents like to pretend are real smiles, but honest-to-goodness real, social smiles.

Unfortunately, I have no proof. What I do have, is this:

Minutes before, he was smiling and cooing and wiggling around during our morning playtime.   In the time it took me to get the camera, set up the shot, and click, the moment had passed and morning playtime was over.

Babies are fickle things.

Speaking of playtime, Mia tries so hard to engage Jacob in games.  She kindasorta understands that he's too young to play with her yet, but she insists on showing him all of his toys (most of which are actually toys that used to belong to her and I'd packed away after she outgrew them).  So often our play area looks like this:

Except now imagine that ring of toys surrounding the blanket he's laying on, an area I think of as his "safety zone."  She loves that kid.  Well, most of the time.  Then there are the times he's eating and she pouts, "Who's going to hold me!?!"

Apparently, toddlers are fickle things, too.
