How far along: 22 weeks
Baby's size: a spaghetti squash; 11 inches (head to heel) and just shy of 1 lb.
What Munchkin is up to (according to Babycenter ):
Your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
Symptoms: Body aches and increasing weight gain
Total Weight Gain: It has been a few weeks, and suddenly the weight has piled on. Current gain: 18 lbs (eek!)
Best moment since last update: I did a little online shopping a purchased a few winter hats for Baby Boy. So tiny, and fun to shop for blue and green.
Movement: Yep, and his "awake times" are becoming more predictable.
Food cravings: Nothing specific this week.
Gender: BOY!
What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, and being able to sleep in the same position for more than an hour at a time before my hips and back begin to stiffen.
What I'm looking forward to: More preparations/plans for Baby Boy. Beginning to discuss names, prepare nursery, and give the child a place to (eventually!) come home to.
