18 Weeks

How far along: 18 weeks

Baby's size: a bell pepper; 5 1/2 inches long, and 7 oz. (for those keeping track, 1/2 an inch and 2oz this week alone. Baby is having a growth spurt)

What Munchkin is up to (according to Babycenter.com):
He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

Symptoms: Lower backaches/popping at the end of the day. Some changes in balance. Headaches are back if I don't stay on top of things.

Total Weight Gain: *cough* 10 lbs. Still holding steady at my post-vacation weight.

Best moment since last update: I finally felt Munchkin nudge up against my hand last night.

Movement: yep

Food cravings: Nothing specific this week. But bummed that Chick-Fil-A is no longer carrying my banana pudding milkshakes. Also, Kevin's big mac on the the way home from vacation looked mighty tempting... a craving I remember from my last pregnancy. Resisted, though.

Gender: Stay tuned! Appointment scheduled for July 18th!

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach. Sleeping at all. I'm tired this week.

What I'm looking forward to: Another appointment in the coming week to check on Munchkin's progress.

Comparison Picture (18 weeks with Mia):

The growth seems to be evening out, but definitely a different shape this time. Also, started this pregnancy significantly lighter, and so the whole profile is different. Actually enjoying my shape more this time :)
