So it only makes sense that I use it to blog my way through this pregnancy, too, right?
How far along: 12 weeks- one more week till second trimester!
Baby's size: lime; just over 2 inches long and half an ounce
What Munchkin is up to (according to Babycenter.com):
Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.
Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human (how cool is that!?!): His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be.Symptoms: Very little right now. Past the sickness stage, except for a few rare instances. I love the second trimester honeymoon period :)
Total Weight Gain: Only 4lbs thus far. I've been avoiding the scale for two weeks because I was afraid of what it would say, but I finally stepped on on Wed and was pleasantly surprised. I gained 30 (maybe a little more?) with Mia.
Best moment since last update: Check back in next week :)
Movement: "They" say it's too early, but I'm fairly certain that I have felt this Munchkin move a few times in the last week. Same rolling feeling I remember with Mia, and, ironically, in the exact same location. First movements I felt with Mia was around 16 weeks (also "early"), and by 20 weeks, her movements could definitely be felt from the outside. Maybe this one's another active kiddo? (God help us!)
Food cravings: Up to this point it has been sweet, sweet, sweet. This last week, however, it has been Granny Smith apples.
Gender: Stay tuned!
What I miss: Several factors have made this a rough week. I'm missing a calming glass (or two) of wine at the end of the day.
What I'm looking forward to: Getting a peek at this Munchkin at our first trimester scan on Thursday.
