4 Months

Hi Everybody!
Mia is 4 months old today!
It's been a busy month, Miss Mia! Here's what's happening:
  • You're growing bigger every moment! You have a long, skinny body...which means your legs are just about long enough for 6-month pants, but you're only wearing 3-month tops. This makes shopping a challenge.
  • You're just about to move up to size 2 diapers. We still have a few small packs of size 1's to get through, but then we'll be moving on.
  • You pretty consistently roll from your backto your tummy. This skill comes in handy, as you still would prefer not to be on your tummy. When you are on your tummy, though, you can hold your head up for extended periods of time and look around.
  • You've mastered the art of grabbing, and now you reach for and grab on to EVERYTHING. Just this past week, you tried to take a bite out of the shopping list I left too close to you.
  • This month, we also switched you to formula and you took it like a champ. You eat every 3 hours, almost to the minute, from 7:30 am-8:00pm. You're starting to show interest in big people food, too. If you're on my lap while I'm eating, you'll use those newly mastered grabbing skills to try and help yourself.
  • You are an extremely vocal baby. You charm everyone you meet with your big smiles and happy baby babble. If you "talk" to someone, and they don't respond fast enough, you become annoyed and will talk louder (ahem...screeching...ahem) until they give you the attention you want.
  • Music has become a central part of our day. You love to dance and sing silly songs. We listen to the Toddler Tunes station on TV and dance and sing our way through everyday chores, but you think it's the greatest thing.
  • You are laughing more and more. Your giggles make us giggle, which in turn makes you giggle even more. It's one of my favorite games :)
  • This past weekend, we took you on your first plane ride, from Washington, DC to New York City. You made us so proud! You were such a well-behaved little girl and made traveling a breeze!

Really, I can't tell you how much fun this little girl is! We recently had dinner with friends whose little girl just turned one year, and they commented on how every month they say, "This has been the best stage yet!" And then the next month happens and they find themselves saying the same thing. How true! It's so much fun watching her little personality come out day by day. This past month, I made the decision to not take on any additional responsibility at work and phase out of the company in the next couple months. I am continuing to work a mere 2 hours a week to finish with the student I am currently tutoring, but that will be over some time this fall. A part of me will miss my work, but the other part feels fortunate (and happy) that I have the oppurtunity to stay at home until Mia is about 15 months old.

Because as much as I enjoy my students, it's this little munchkin who makes my day:
