Her hands are open more than fisted now, and she grasps at things that are placed in her palm. She still hates to be on her tummy, but she tolerates it for longer periods of time and she's getting better at pushing herself up. She prefers, however, to lay her head down on the mat and chomp on her fist.
Her personality is fairly easy going. She really only cries when she's hungry. But boy, oh boy, that temper! It's not nice of us, as her parents, to laugh at her, but that angry face cracks us up everytime. She goes from cooing and happy to starving and angry in less than a minute. When that happens, her face scrunches up and turns bright red and she lets loose with these tremendous wails and screeches. Once she starts eating, she'll quiet down immediately, with just one or two hiccuping cries to let us know that she hasn't forgiven us completely for "neglecting" her. When she's not angry, she's incredibly vocal. She will sit propped and my knees and have a conversation with me, complete with facial expressions.
Everybody asks, "How tired are you?" The answer is, "Not very!" She sleeps from about 8:45pm to 6:00am, wakes up to eat for half an hour, and then goes to sleep again till 8:00 or 8:30. So my day starts at 6:00 if I feel fully rested, or sometimes I'll go back to sleep for another hour after feeding her. It doesn't get much better than that!
One of my favorite moments of the day is when she starts to make noises at 8:00 am, indicating that she's waking up. When she hears me open the door she stops making fussy noises. I'll open the blinds, then lean over the crib to say good morning and to unwrap her from her swaddle blanket. It takes a minute or two of stretching and groaning before she actually opens her eyes to me, but when she does, she breaks into the biggest grin and coos her greeting. It's as if she's surprised and delighted to see me each and every morning. I'm not a morning person, but that's the best way to start off the day.
I know that each month will bring new firsts and milestones. We are loving that we're starting to see a little personality come out. What a fun little person we have!
