First Bath

I had been waiting not so patiently for Mia's umbilical cord stump to fall off. Quite honestly, she was beginning to stink and who wants to hold a stinky baby, even if it is your own? On Friday, enough of it fell off that I felt comfortable giving her a bath, even if I just dabbed around the bit of the stump left attached.

I was a little wary, since she has mixed feelings about being "exposed." Diaper changes are always a crap shoot (Kevin just pointed out the double entendre of this statement...no pun was intended... :p). Sometimes, she'll lay calmly while being changed. Other times, she's a wiggling, screaming, mess. So I didn't know how she'd react to the bath.

Fortunately, it went rather well. I wouldn't say that she was a happy baby... but she didn't fight us, either. Her expressions tell all.

Awesome...

In a few months, you'll be able to let her 'swim' on her own, turn off the water, call for you when she's good and wrinkly and let her have her privacy.

Well, O.K., in about 60 months...

And at the rate she's growing and learning new things every day, I know that 60 months will still feel like "just a few".

Savor this time. It is fleeting.
