33 Weeks

Mia decided at 5:00 am that she was wide awake and ready to go. So I've been awake since 5:00, up and moving around since 5:30. Eeesh. She's already taken over our schedule!

The benefit to being up that early is that in the last 3 hours, I've had breakfast, caught up on the overnight news, checked my email and read through my blogroll, and put in almost 2 hours of schoolwork. Productivity is good, even if waking up at 5:00am is not.

Can it possibly be almost March?? We're up to 33 weeks. Here's what's going on:

  • Mia is approximately 4 pounds and 16+ inches long. That's about the weight of a pineapple.

  • Her arms and legs are now perfectly proportionate to her body.
  • The skeleton is continuing to harden, though the bones forming her skull are not fused together and won't fully fuse until early adulthood.
  • The iris color starts to appear, but this may change after birth.
  • Her pupils start to dilate, and she now closes her eyes while sleeping and opens them while awake.

It seems like these weekly updates are becoming more and more similar. For the most part, she is "done", and now we (and I do mean WE) are just growing bigger. Every additional week she stays warm and cozy in there means less risk and potential complications. On the other hand, now that we know that there's a fully formed little person in there, we're becoming more anxious to meet her. Still, 7 weeks is not that much longer. And we're keeping our fingers crossed that she's not too comfortable. After all, I don't want to be making these posts at 41 weeks...42 weeks...

We're leaving after I get off work tonight to go to Pennsylvania for the weekend. My mom and sister are hosting my shower, for which I am super excited. My in-laws are even flying in from Atlanta for 24 hours so that they can be part of the event. Fun! Pictures when we return.

Have a good weekend!
