Taking the Plunge

I finally took the plunge today and bought "real, live, actual" maternity jeans. This was a rather surprisingly emotional ordeal. I don't know if taking this step made it more real, or if it's the frustration of having to buy a whole new wardrobe that will only last a few months, or what it was...but I had some sort of mental wall regarding buying these jeans. And when I broke down that wall...I became a mess, right there in the shopping mall. We stood there at the railing, staring at the floor below and the men and women sitting in the seating area for 20 minutes, while I fussed, and teared up, then got control of myself...and then teared up again. Eeesh!

But once I actually tried the jeans on--I was sold. This is SOOOO much more comfortable than trying to squeeze into the unforgiving waistline of my "pre-pregnancy" jeans. I actually changed in the bathroom of the shopping mall and wore the new jeans for the rest of the day.

The new jeans are actually a little big, but I deliberately left room to grow. A little big is definitely better than squeezing all my abdominal organs into my ribcage.

So there we have it. Another official milestone.
