I'm lovin' that fall has arrived here in DC. Changing colors on the trees, and cooler temps, and just a general crispness. Lovely. Last weekend we went to Oktoberfest in Vienna (Virginia). While this wasn't really an Oktoberfest, but more of a street carnival, it was still lots of fun, and nice to be outside. While there, we poked around in a booth with a representative from Baby Brewing. Check them out here. Basically, the idea is the brainchild (hehe! Look at me being all witty!) of a woman who lost her job and had a child in a very short amount of time. I know everyone has their personal tastes, but I find the shirts awesome. I think this one needs to find its way into my closet:
For the last several years, fall has meant pumpkin spice cappuccino at Starbucks. Yum! This year, I've sworn off the caffeine, so no pumpkin spice for me. The coffees/cappuccinos/lattes/sodas have been the most difficult thing for me to give up. I do like my caffeine fixes. I've told Kevin that once the delivery is over and Baby is here safely and I've recovered somewhat...I wouldn't turn down a Starbucks coffee cup appearing in my hand.
Another fall thought...apples. For the last couple days, I've had a hankering to go apple picking...and then apple baking. When I was a junior and senior in college, my roommates and I went to an orchard and came back with so many pounds of apples, we were cooking for the next two weeks. We made pies, and apple sauce, and tarts, and fried apples. And I haven't done it since then. This year, I think I'd like to try again.
But before that...fall also means Homecoming season. And this year, we are back in the town of Kevin's college alma mater. So this coming weekend, we are hosting a few of his friends who are traveling in to town from elsewhere to partake of the festivities. I believe there will be tailgating involved. I'll be easy to pick out. I'll be the slightly chubby one drinking the water.

I know you don't know me (I went to HS with Kevin)... and I hate to contribute to any pregnancy delinquency... but I'm pretty sure "Coffeebucks" (and other places) have decaf espresso beans. Which means decaf pumpkin spice drinks (lattes are my personal first choice).
I guess, technically, decaf is really very-low-caf, so you may still want to stay away. Or you might allow yourself a treat!
Best,
Betsy
