Here S/he Is!

Kevin and I are excited that we can finally debut our soon-to-be addition!

We were able to hear a very strong heartbeat at the appointment this morning, which was a huge relief. I was really feeling very calm, until late last night, and then this morning, so that by the time we actually met with the nurse/midwife at 8am, I was a bundle of nerves. Kevin stayed remarkably calm on the outside, though I have a feeling he wasn't as confident as he looked either. They were able to find the heartbeat pretty quickly with just the doppler, and that alone was enough for me. Quick, steady, clear heartbeat, no doubt that there's a little person in there. They went on to then bring in the sonogram machine, which must have been the part that Kevin was waiting for, because he jumped out of his seat as soon as they turned it on...right in front of me. When I was asked if I could see, my response was, "No, he's in my way!" Not polite, but I think all is forgiven.

What was most surprising to me, I think, was how much movement there was! I'm obviously not far enough along to feel anything, so in my head, I had this mental picture of a tiny little lima bean shaped character, just lying there. Oh no!! Our little sprout was dancing all over the place this morning! Feet kicking, arms waving, body twisting! It was quite the aerobic workout!

We are very excited, even more so now that we can share our news with the rest of the world. Baby should make an appearance around April 10.

You can see his/her first photo op below. The head is on the left of the screen, with the right hand waving hello, and a foot kicking up in the right corner.
