20 Weeks

Woohoo! Halfway to meeting this little one! So far, we haven't done much to prepare, but I'm ready to start shifting into planning mode. There is scheming, shopping, painting, and hanging to be done, people!

How far along:
20 weeks

Baby's size: a banana; 10 inches (head to heel) and 10.5 ounces.

What Munchkin is up to (according to Babycenter.com):

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Little side story... Mia didn't wait for her the diaper to pass that first round of meconium. She did it on my chest, literally seconds after birth. Welcome to parenthood.

Symptoms: Lower backaches.

Total Weight Gain: Eh, I'm not stepping on the scale this week. I forgot to weigh myself before having a total fondue feast at The Melting Pot last night, so we'll skip the scale this week ;)

Best moment since last update: Munchkin woke me up this week with his/her kicks. I love feeling this little guy/girl moving more and more. I also dropped Mia off at Oma-Opa camp for several days of spoiling, so I'm looking forward to some antiquing, and adult time with Kevin before our BIG appointment on Monday.

Movement: Yep. This baby still seems to be a little more subtle in his/her movements. However, he kicks every time I pull the laptop up against my stomach, or spend an extended period of time buckled in the car.

Food cravings: Nothing specific this week. Still trying to reach for the fruit rather than the salty snacks. Lots of watermelon and cherries.

Gender: MONDAY!!! 8AM!!!! (Not that we're excited). Kevin hasn't seen Munchkin since 8 weeks, and at that point the baby looks like a jelly bean, so I'm particularly excited for him to have the "baby tour" with me. We have our guess at what gender this child is (and this time around, we both agree), but we'll soon find out for sure!

Anyone else want to put a guess in?

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach.

What I'm looking forward to: A weekend of "couple time" and then... MONDAY!!! 8 AM!!! (Also, if this baby decides to be shy and uncooperative, he/she is going in time-out the MINUTE he/she is born).
