Nessy

So. We got some snow. Really, the first storm we've had all winter. It started at around 3:00 yesterday afternoon with sleet/freezing rain, which quickly turned over to snow, and by nightfall, we had a good 5 inches on the ground. It made the evening commute a little messy. It took Kevin 5 hours to make the normal 30-minute commute home, but we all were tucked into the house by 8pm.

Another 5 inches fell overnight, so Kevin elected to work from home today. While he holed up in the "office" (guest bedroom), Mia and I bundled up and went outside.

Except here's the thing.

Apparently she doesn't like the sensation of walking on top of the packed, frozen snow. And she doesn't weigh enough to do more than put a slight dent in it. She calls it a "ness." She entertained herself by sitting in the snow and batting at it for awhile while I cleared off the walkway and iced the steps and then we went for a walk.

Only on the cleared sidewalk, mind you. No romping in the snow for this kid. In fact, as we walked she told me all about how the cars and the steps and the ceramic sheep my neighbor has on the porch were all a "ness".

But you know what is not a mess?

Laying on your stomach in the slushy, plowed street to push ice around.

"Ice! Ice!"

Now she's napping.

I'm doing laundry.

What a ness.
