We ordered a toddler bed earlier this week after Mia surprised us by climbing out of her crib on Monday morning. The bed arrived yesterday. It took me about 2 hours to put together this morning, and then we introduced the bed to her about an hour before naptime. We made a really big deal out of how she needed to stay in the bed and call for Mommy or Daddy if she wanted out, and not climb out herself. We put her down for her nap, and when I checked on her 20 minutes later, she was sound asleep.
We put her down at bedtime, and she talked to herself for about an hour, but this is not too out of the norm, she babbled to herself and her stuffed friends for extended periods of time when she was in the crib, too. After an hour, she was silent, and she's sleeping comfortably now.
She never tried to climb out.
So that's it. Transition made. I'm proud of her for taking the change so well, but also a little sad that we no longer have a "baby" in the house.
On the other hand, her room looks really odd without the crib taking up all that space. We didn't put alot of effort into decorating her room after we moved into this house because we knew it wouldn't be a nursery for much longer. It's about time to upgrade from a nursery to a "big girl" room.
Guess I'll console myself with a little online window shopping...
