Doctor's Appointment

Mia had her 4 month appointment today (at 5 months, 1 week). She weighed in at 13 lbs, 8 oz and was 27 inches long. This puts her in the 60th percentile for heighth, but only the 17th percentile for weight. The doctor doesn't seem to be too concerned, though, as she's taking in between 30 and 32 ounces of formula a day and a happy, healthy, social baby. She's also meeting some of her milestones ahead of time, most likely because she's so inquisitive.

We also got the go-ahead to start solids. Up until this past week, I hadn't really been getting the sense that she was ready or interested. But in the last few days, I've increased her formula intake and she still seems like she wants something more. So next week, at 5 1/2 months, we'll start with rice cereal. I don't plan on lingering too long there, because I feel that she can get greater nutritional value from veggies. We'll see how it goes.

We ended the appointment with another round of shots, which Mia is now sleeping off. Last time, she had a very mild reaction, just a low grade fever and some fussiness. Keep your fingers crossed that that's the worst of it again.
