Baby Giggles and Mommy Glee

Two weeks ago, my Mom babysat for us for a few days while I went to a work training. During that time, Mia giggled for the first time, but Kevin and I both missed it, and it hadn't happened again.

Until today.

Today, she was in her swing and I sat down on the floor in front of her to play. As she came towards me, I'd take a deep breath then lean forward to noisily kiss/nip at her toes. After several minutes, she caught on to the game and would start to giggle in anticipation before I even touched her.

Too. Stinkin'. Cute.

Also sure to win smiles? The Super Baby game. And Super Baby + Naked Baby? Well, that's just pure bliss!

We've been trying to get Mia to practice sitting up, since at some point she's going to have to view the world from this angle, rather than flat on her back, as she prefers. You see what happens when we prop her up against pillows?

Mia thinks that she's going to get up and walk. She prefers to be standing (supported, of course) rather than sitting, and as soon as you sit her down on her bottom, she starts kicking her feet and trying to figure out how she can scooch (is that a word?) into an upright position. Maybe I should remind her that this slouching is bad for her posture?

But Mia is not the only one expressing giggles of delight around here. My anniversary gift this year was a shoe shopping trip! Most of my shoes recently have come from Payless and the Kohls flip-flop rack and while comfortable and practical, they're nothing fancy. Furthermore, I've always bargained shopped for my shoes, very rarely will I pay full price, and never a designer label, since I can usually find the knock-off for much less. So my gift was a trip to Pentagon City Mall to buy my very own pair of designer shoes. Yippee!

The practical side of me insisted that if I were paying designer prices, than I was going to get something that I would get my money's worth out of. So after several stores with a very patient husband and a happy, people-watching baby in tow, I settled on these:

They're from Coach and I love the sequins on the toe and heel. The pattern that I bought is black on black, so the design is much more subtle. I'm in love.

Kevin's gift from me was a new camera lens, which we have yet to shop for, but you can be sure that there will be alot of new Mia pictures soon, once he has a new "toy" to experiment with!
